Unfortunately Mike got stuck in this rut for a few years. But despite all his struggles, he still loved the concept of network marketing. The urge to work from his kitchen table never left him. Mike: “I ran across a fellow who had three different sites that he used to secure leads. He was a wholesaler which means he would generate the leads and then sell them to anyone but mostly other brokers.

Of course this gentleman had different qualities of leads. He had leads that were less than 24 hours old, he had leads that were less than 3 days old, then of course he had leads that were 30 days old and they were very, very inexpensive.

And it all sounded good to me, it seemed like a logical way of selling higher quality leads to people who were willing to pay for them. But what he didn’t tell me is that the different level quality leads really had no different quality whatsoever, they were all basically the same leads.

I was selling leads that were supposed to be fresher, supposedly were real-time, and it took me a while to figure out this wasn’t happening. I confronted him with it and he sorta hemmed and hawed around and didn’t come right out and say he was lying to people, and these different quality leads weren’t what they were supposed to be, but it didn’t take me that long to figure out!

By innuendo he’d mention how the lead generation industry works and he’d make comments about the realities of the business. He wasn’t going to come right out and say he’s misleading people but it didn’t take me that long to figure out with the comments he was making and what I was witnessing and observing by doing it to determine how bogus the whole industry is.”
